Training and Experience

I started to dance when I was 2 years old and I don't think I've ever stopped! My first proper dancing experience was when I attended an Irish dancing school at age 7 and took part in regular competitions. My formal training began in my local dance school (Ellis School of Dance) where I completed Modern Jazz- Intermediate grade, Ballet-grade 5 and Freestyle-Bronze award. I also competed with solos, duets, trios and troupes around the North.

I joined a youth group at the Dance Studio Leeds where my passion for performing really grew! We did regular performances around Leeds including Fresh, Breeze on Tour and Leeds Fringe 2011. Around this time I also performed in flashmobs, Leeds RAG fashion show and local shows.

I attended St. Aidans C of E High School and Sixth Form where I studied A level Dance and Performing Arts receiving A's for both. Here, I became part of the auditioned dance group 'Aidance' in which we performed around Harrogate and got to opportunity to compete in the televised CBBC's Glee Club Competition. I also took part in 4 school shows and in my last year I organised an evening of dance for the charity DanceAid where we raised £200. From leaving, I have been back to teach workshops, do a week long placement and choreograph for the KS3 shows.

Kingston University London

In 2013 I joined Kingston University London to study a BA (Hons) Dance degree. Some of my modules included dance teaching and leading, dancing cultures, popular dance, production project and access to dance. I learnt about many styles including Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Burlesque, African, Bharatanatyam, Charleston and Wushu.

During my 3 years at University I was heavily involved in the dance society, becoming president in my final year. I was in charge of a committee, 7 competition teams and over 100 students. I also competed in 5 teams myself - Jazz, Commercial, Hip hop, Latin and Contemporary and we competed up and down the country often winning trophies.

Alongside competitions we also organised fund-raiser events and showcases and worked alongside the university cheerleading squad. I also set up a company called KDEntertainment with students from the university and we performed a couple of themed flashmobs as part of Surbiton's Christmas lights switch on and Pryzm's Halloween night. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Kingston and managed to graduate with a 1st class degree!

Current work

I am currently based in and around Leeds and spend my weekdays teaching dance and gymnastics at a variety of places:

Ainsty Gymnastics-Club Coach. Teaching trampolining, gymnastics and parkour to children aged KS1-KS3.

Danceology-Dance Teacher. Teaching 'Tiny tots' to pre-school aged children and the competition class, accompanying the pupils at the competitions.

Ellis School of Dance-Dance Teacher. Teaching weekly classes in Contemporary and Commercial.

Roundhay High School-Staff Dance Teacher. Teaching a fun weekly class for the staff in various styles.

As well as teaching, I continue to perform myself and have recently been part of a dance group for 'Rule the World' Take that tribute band at the Barbican Theatre, York. I am part of the Spencer properties Dance team for Leeds Rhinos rugby league and Yorkshire Carnegie rugby union teams. I am part of a new Jazz dance company in London called 'House of Jazz' that is run by Christie Lee Manning and travel down to London once a month to train with them.

My passion is for performing and I continue to train and develop at classes in Leeds. I am always on the look out for any performing opportunities that come my way!
